The picturesque old village of Kirkmichael lies surrounded by heather clad hills and pine forests in the valley of Strathardle which is a beautiful Scottish Highland glen at the gateway to the Cairngorm National Park and Royal Deeside. Kirkmichael has a long and turbulent history dating back over one thousand years but now enjoys a lovely atmosphere of rural tranquility although it is easily accessible with the motorway network 30 miles away in Perth and Edinburgh airport within 90 minutes driving time.

The pretty country towns of Pitlochry and Blairgowrie are 12 miles on either side of the village with a good selection of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities. Kirkmichael itself has two excellent inns serving quality food and drink and an award winning village shop with cafe and internet access all a few minutes walk from the cottages.

Highland Perthshire is the outdoor centre of Scotland with a wealth of activities on offer including walking or biking on the many trails leading into the hills or the Cateran Trail long distance walk, climbing the local Munros, river or loch angling, water sports, off road driving, mountain safaris, winter sports at Glenshee and for golfers there is a choice of over 40 courses within and hour's drive ranging from Gleneagles to Scotland's highest course at the top of Glenshee.
Surrounded by lochs, glens and magnificent scenery this is the geographical centre of Scotland and with many parts of the country within a day trip, Kirkmichael is the perfect base for touring and exploring.
